Supporting Rural Health Security

FSi partners with Microsoft & The White House

FSi Strategies is proud to announce our participation in the Microsoft Philanthropies Rural Health Security Program, a joint initiative with Microsoft, the White House, the American Hospital Association, and the National Rural Health Association to provide free cybersecurity assessments and training to rural hospitals across America.

Rural hospitals are vital to the health and well-being of millions of people across the United States, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, they also face significant challenges in securing their data and systems from cyberattacks, which can compromise patient safety, privacy, and trust. According to a recent report by the Health Sector Coordinating Council, rural hospitals are more likely to be targeted by ransomware and other malicious cyber actors than their urban counterparts, due to their limited resources, staff, and expertise.

That’s why Microsoft, in collaboration with the White House and the American Hospital Association, launched the Rural Health Security Program, a comprehensive package of support and resources to help rural hospitals improve their cybersecurity posture and resilience. The program includes:

  • Free security assessments conducted by qualified partners like FSi Strategies, based on industry best practices and emerging health sector cyber performance goals.
  • Free access to cybersecurity awareness and risk mitigation training for frontline and IT staff, delivered through Microsoft Learn.
  • Affordable access to Microsoft’s advanced enterprise security product suite, including Microsoft 365 E3, Microsoft 365 E5 Security, and Windows 10 Extended Security Update, free for one year.
  • For independent critical access hospitals (CAHs), standard nonprofit discounts and grants for Microsoft products and services.

As a Microsoft Solutions Partner with designations for modern work and security and a managed service provider, FSi Strategies is proud to be one of the selected partners to deliver the security assessments for the Rural Health Security Program. We have extensive experience in working with nonprofit organizations, including healthcare providers, and we are passionate about helping them achieve more by leveraging Microsoft Cloud technology. We are also committed to the missions of these organizations and to the communities they serve.

Our security assessment process is designed to be simple, fast, and effective. We will conduct a one-and-a-half to two-hour consultation with each rural hospital, using a standardized questionnaire and tool to evaluate their current security status and identify key risks and recommendations. We will then provide a concise and polished report that summarizes our findings and provides a roadmap for improvement. We will also follow up with each hospital to discuss the report and offer our professional services to help them implement the remediations and take advantage of the Microsoft offers.

We believe that this program is a great opportunity for rural hospitals to enhance their security awareness and defenses, and to benefit from the latest Microsoft technology and innovation. We are excited to work with Microsoft, the White House, the American Hospital Association, and the rural health sector to make this program a success and to contribute to the safety, security, and resiliency of healthcare organizations across America.
